Today marks my 6thmonth anniversary of moving in Oxford, it is a very special day.
Oxford is my home, this beautiful city welcomed me when I most needed reassurance, guidance and a fresh start.
In September, I moved to a new city, with no family around to fall back on, no idea what a student lifestyle was — and if I was ready for it — but mostly with no friends. It was definitely challenging, and emotional at times with periods of missing home a lot. However, was I truly missing home, or the memories, people and comfort attached to it?
A wise person, and dear friend recently told me that what makes a place your home is the people around you. I feel lucky to have met so many wonderful human beings in this new city; from crazy movie nights, study sessions, pub and restaurant outings, to many more fun activities, these last few months were a real roller-coaster of events.
Thank you, Oxford, for being so welcoming, caring and offering me everything I’ve ever wanted without knowing it. I can’t wait to create so many more memories and go on crazy new adventures. Well, when everyone can go out in public again.
